Wars have always been fought by proxy and often we dont know who is controlling the game.
Athletic games are much the same. From the gladiators of Rome to Don King´s Rumble in the Jungle with Muhammed Ali vs George Foreman in Zaire (Congo) , which was aranged by Don King.
The rest of us are spectators.
